Economics is a study area closely
related to individual and social activities. As a living
discipline, it calls for capturing the essence of the
material aspects of human life. The changing and
evolving nature of our dynamic community requires highly
skilled learning so that the understanding of the
complexities of economic problems can be achieved to a
large extent. The principal aim of our department is to
provide our students with the theory and knowledge at a
satisfactory level to extend their views on major issues
facing national and international economies.
The program is designed to prepare the students for the
public sector as well as the private sector and for
different careers requiring the use of analytical tools
and creative skills. The courses in economics are
supported by other fields such as mathematics,
statistics, business, law, computers and relevant areas
to build up a comprehensive perspective which may offer
ability to deal with a variety of economic problems.
The Department of Economics offers an undergraduate
program leading to a B.A. degree in economics and a
graduate program in collaboration with the Institutes of
Graduate Study (The Graduate School) leading to an M.A.
degree in economics. |
